Perch, Mrs. Sackets, and Crow's Nest by Karen Pavlicin

All about me - Mrs. Sackets

The first thing to know about me is I love polka dots. You may already have guessed that from the web site background. I have a polka-dotted swim suit and polka-dotted curtains in The Club House.

The next thing you should know is that I hardly ever lose in Gin or Gin Rummy. So if you stop by to play, prepare to get your hat handed to you.

I am very good at catching sunbeams. I just love that late afternoon sun. It makes a halo around everything.

I like to write poetry with a friend one line at a time. Do you like to write poetry? I bet you and a good friend could write a funny poem together. Andy's mom and I have done it for years.

My character is based on qualities of many older women in the author's life. She was blessed not only with her own grandmas but also her neighborhood grandmas. Only one is still alive today, Mrs. Dorothy Stiles, who used to live in a big yellow house across the street when the author was Andy's age. Mrs. Stiles had a fantastic library, too. The author visited Mrs. Stiles this summer and brought her a copy of Perch, Mrs. Sackets, and Crow's Nest. Mrs. Stiles is 98 years old. She really likes the book!

I'll write more about myself later. Right now I need to go bird watching with Andy. I especially like chickadees. Chickadee dee dee. -- Mrs. Sackets

Mrs. Stiles reads about Mrs. Sackets.
